Eguma blames fitness

Coach Stanley Eguma of Iwuanyanwu Nationale FC said the poor performance of the Naze war lords can be traced to fitness problem.

Coach Ezuma who was in Aba to spy on Rangers International FC in preparation for week 14 encounter involving both teams told nigeriasports.com that apart from the fitness problem and the fact that the team didn't start well in the league, he is trying to put the team in a better position.

"The problem we have in Iwuanyanwu is that most of the new players that came in during the short window open were not in the pre-season training. So, they have fitness problem and that is what has been affecting us",

"Most of our matches, the boys play well in the first half and second half they gas out and our opponents capitalise on that",

"So we are working on that, gradually combining it with the matches to make sure we improve on that area. Again, we don't want to overwork on them so that it doesn't become counter productive to the team",

"Apart from that and the fact that the team didn't start well in the league, I don't have any other problem and we are trying to put the team in a better condition and making sure that the team equally contest well in the league".

Speaking on his side's defeat to Enyimba International FC, Eguma said that the early goal distablised the team though they generally did not play well and even at that he still salute the courage of his boys.

"We conceedede an early goal that disterblised us, I even salute the courage of my boys to pick up and end the first half on that note. But in the second half, I expected them to come up but like I said this fitness problem also affected the team. But in our subsequent matches we are going to improve".

On the Rangers match, Eguma said, " well, it is a different match that will require a different approach. We are going there to give a good account of ourselves".

Eguma defends Izilein
As the Nigerian Football Association set to probe the woefull outing of the Golden Eaglet at the Afican U-17 championship in Zambia, the body has been engoined not to heap the blame of the failure on the technical crew alone.

This passionate appeal was made for the team's technical crew led by coach Izillien by Coach Stanley Eguma who spoke to nigeriasports.com recently.

According to the Iwuanyanwu handler, although the team did not do well at least according to the expectations of Nigerians, the technical crew alone should not be held responsible for the unimpressive performance.

" I think the team did not do well according to the expectation of Nigerians. I wouldn't blame the technical crew, infact let no one blame them. The football house should not blame them, because I know that with adequate preparation, they would have done better",

"I believe it was as a result of lack of adequate preparation, and that has been the bane of our football in this country. I think we should have prepared very well, take these boys out and work on them very well, expose them.

"African football is growing quite fast, so, competitions at African level should be taking serious especially now that african countries are more serious with their developmental programmes",
