juju man dwarfs opponenents in special sports

SPORTS ASOCIATION ELECTIONS: Director of Edo State sports, Brown Ebewele could be on his way to the exalted position of President, Special Sports Federation of Nigeria, if responses from star special sports athletes are anything to go by. On the surface, Ebewele, known as ‘juju man’ is expected to square up with challenges from 12 other ambitious Nigerians, whose dreams may be equally as tall as that of the Juju man.

Nigeria sport recently went to town to sample the hidden opinions of some of the major casts in special sports worldwide, the athletes themselves. And the outcome tilted more favourably in the direction of the Edo State sports chieftain.For teasers one of the athletes who spoke with us under no condition of anonymity, Margaret Okoko said of Ebewele: “He is just too good. He is the ideal man for us.

“Brown is a very warm person and very tolerant. He is understanding and has the financial well withal to head the Special Sports Federation. He is a fair man, who believes in square pegs in square holes. “Iam saying all these because in my short years of involvement in sports (special sports table tennis), I have come in contact with him several times and he is always the same kind and helpful person. I’m not talking for myself alone. Ask other athletes and you will get same answers.

“During the 2003 All Africa Games in Abuja, Nigeria, Brown ensured that only those special sports athletes, who are good enough to win medals for the country, went on the Training Tour of Cuba. “Before he (Brown) came into the scene, everything had been mixed up and the younger athletes had been dropped for the more influential older athletes, whose forms did meet the required standard for the Games.

“At the All Africa Games, I won three silver medals for Nigeria and for Brown’s efforts Nigeria would have come second at that Games. You see, the time has come for right people to be put in right places. I challenge all other contestants to come forward with their RESUME and tell the world and Nigerians, what they have done or how they have affected the lives of the people they are now aspiring to rule. I challenge them…yes, I do.

“It is as if Brown feels the pain we special sports athletes feel and that is the only way to rule us. Our ruler or whoever is aspiring to lead us, should at least, pretend to have our blood running in their veins…otherwise, they should go back to bed preparatory for another dream”
