Enyimba drops Okemiri, Opara

African champions Enyimba International FC of Aba has dropped two of its key defenders Ogbonnaya Okemiri and Uga Opara who is currently in South Africa on trials for logistic reasons.

Nigeriasports.com gathered that Ogbonnaya Okemmiri and Uga Opara were dropped due to indiscipline.

Aside these two players six others were dropped while ten new players were signed for the 2005 Globacom Premier League season.

Top on the list of the newly signed players are Rangers goal keeper Samuel Okoye, Ekene Emigo, Kabiru Isah and Lobi stars duo of Odeh Oga and John Gadi.

Coach of the club Okey Emordi told nigeriasports.com that these players were signed for their outstanding performance last season.

According to him, “Nine of our old players have traveled to Europe for trials and opportunities and we must sign new other as replacement,”

“We signed them out of merits not sentiments because we have a huge task ahead of us. With the Caf champions league to look forward to and this time we need to defend it again to accomplish our dream,” he said.

Speaking on the sacked players Emordi confirmed that he would not tolerate indiscipline within the club.


Ready to break Hearts
Enyimba FC of Aba have moved to close camp in Otta-Ogun state to enable them prepare for the Caf Super cup against Accra Heart of Oak billed for Aba February 12th.

The team is expected to leave Aba Friday for Otta with 30-man list including the newly-signed players.

Speaking with Nigeriasports.com in Aba Wednesday, Okey Emordi disclosed that he would use the match against Heart of Oak to access the physical fitness of new players.

“Our match against Heart of Oak is very important to us because we need crown all our efforts,”

“Again despite the caliber of players I may use for the game whether new or old once we will still beat them. Besides there is nothing one can do because most of my key players are now out side the country so we must play with those available,” he said.
