National Swimming Champion, Obia Inyingiyikabo is not looking out to break any records in Rivers State Governor’s Cup open Swimming Championships for what she described as poor preparations on the part of the Rivers State Swimming team, nigeriasports.com can authoritatively report.
Obia Inyingiyikabo told nigeriasports.com that the Rivers State Swimming team did not have any training until a week to the Championships.
“We had no pool to train in because the water was bad until one week to the start of the Championships. All we did was just to jog daily so I am not really expecting anything.”
Obia, known as the Fish for her exploits in the pool was however optimistic that she would win at least ten gold medals in the championships.
“Just as I did not train too well, I know most of the other swimmers did not train too well either so I will beat them with experience.”
Inyingiyikabo has already grabbed two gold medals in the first day of the competition.
She got her first gold in the 200m freestyle with a time of 2:27.05 and her second gold came in the 100m backstroke.
