Determined to improve on their standard, the Insurance FC of Edo State has decided to embark on mass recruitment of young and talented players for next season while Coach Godwin Koko Uwua's job is considered secured. Nigeriasports.com can report.
Chairman of Insurance FC, Chief Oyuki Obaseki disclosed in a chat in Abuja that a 10-man committee has been put in place on the recruitment drive for young and talented players.
“We will not leave any stone unturned in our determined bid to ensure that we excel in the Pro-League next season. We have already started on the recruitment drive for talents”, he said.
But chief Obaseki quickly pointed out that coach Jerry Uwua, who piloted the team to third place finishing in the recently concluded Pro-League, which officials table was yet to be released by the Pro-League department of the Nigeria Football Association would not be part of the recruitment committee.
“Uwua is a good coach, no doubt about that, but he is very deficient in recruiting good players. We will retain for next season”, chief Obaseki maintained in an exclusive chat in Abuja.
Obaseki, who was part of the Professional Football club Owner’s Association meeting in Abuja, would however not disclose how many old players would be retained for next season.
“We have plans to have good players for next season. Any of the old players that stand the test would certainly be retained. No one would want throw away good material”, he said.
