President of the Nigeria Cricket Association (NCA) Dr John Abebe has told Nigeriasports.com that the future of Cricket lies in the Grassroots.
According to Abebe, the schools and play grounds will provide the sport a secured future.
“We are hoping to cash in on the grassroots like we’ve done in the past. The schools are full of talents and that is our major priority for now” he told Nigeriasports.com
“Schools like Kings College, Answar-ul-deen and others provided talents for the country in the past and present. Such promising cricketers are what we hope to develop.
Abebe stressed that Cricket is an expensive sport with the NCA operating on a shoe-string budget.
“Cricket is expensive but we’ve managed to put a lot of things together hoping things can get better.
“Cricket has a great future and everyone should support us to make the best of it” Abebe concluded.
