Ikeke wins, targets world title![]() Ikeke who holds the NABF, NABA and NABO middleweight titles which he won in one night beating Kenny Ellis in August last year was in control of the fight when a clash of heads in the eight round opened up a bad cut on Cuevas sending the bout to the cards. The three judges had Ikeke leading 79-73 and based on that they gave him the fight, as Cuevas could not continue. With the victory Ikeke takes his record to 20-1 (9 KOs) Ikeke’s only loss was a highly controversial decision to Anthony Hanshaw in 2001; most ringside observers believed he won the fight. The lanky 6’4 Nigerian pugilist said after the fight that his target was to win the world title one day and hopes to defend it in Nigeria. “I have not been home for a long time because I have been working so hard in training, I miss home and one day I hope to win the world title and hopefully defend it in Nigeria” He said. He is the only Nigerian rated by all the boxing sanctioning bodies, WBC ranks at 5, WBA-4, IBF-9 and number 4 by WBO. 1
