Rangers on a comfortable ride

ENUGU - Rangers International FC of Enugu were in sparkling form Sunday night as they moved away from the danger zone of the Glo Premier League table with a 2 - 0 win over visiting Kano Pillars at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu. Greater part of the first half saw a more vibrant Pillars who were in Enugu to seek revenge against Rangers who held them to a 1-1 draw at home in the first stanza of the league. But Rangers turned the tide later on, and in the 42nd Sam Ledor, was brought down in the box and the resultant penalty kick was beautifully converted by Okey Odita. The half ended 1-0 Rangers, with the home fans still expecting so much. On resumption, the homers resumed where they stopped by putting the visitors under severe pressure. Ugo Okeke, made it two for the Enugu "Antelopes" in the 58th minute with a grounder beyond high flying goal keeper Jamilu Musa of Pillars. It was a season of missed chances for both teams with both keepers making breathtaking saves. Coach Lawrence Akpokona of Rangers said the team is on the march to staying on a comfortable position on the table before the comencement of the league stage of the CAF Confederation Cup. According to him the team is no longer looking for players as some of the boys that left for trialS in Europe are returning home. "we don't need new players any longer.
