Female League Preview: Ibom Angels of Uyo

Cameroonian Nounou (11) tangos with Odigilia of FCT Queens
Ibom Angels of Uyo may just take the place of rumoured to be defunct Ibom Unity Queens of Uyo as nigeriasports.com reveals that Chairman of the Club, Bonny Nyong may have handed the club over to the Akwa Ibom State Government.

Last season could not have been worse for the Ibom girls as they could hardly pay salaries and allowances and after the Super Six in Umuahia, the club was stranded for one week as they could not pay up on their hotel bills.

On return to Uyo it took the girls marching down to the house of  the Chairman, Bonny Nyong and giving him the beating of his life before some salaries were paid.

Cameroonian import, Sylvie “Nounou” Noudjou told nigeriasports.com that the club are okay now and will be looking forward to play in the first division in 2004.

“Apart from those players we lost to Rivers Angels and Pelican stars, the rest of us stayed back with the club.”

The club has hooked up former Eagles player and coach, Mike Ekpeyong and former Chairman, Bonny Nyong will serve as General Manager.

The club retained old timers like Ashara Lori, Vero Afejuku, Atini Jackson and Idorenyin Okon.
