Akwa United Vice Chairman upbeat on league chances

The Vice Chairman of Akwa United Football Club of Uyo, Eno Etukudom says the offificating in the first round of the league was not as impressive as he expected it would be.

In a chat with our man, nigeriasports.com, the Vice Chairman said though referees have been hard on his team especially in away games he is still impressed with the performance of the side in the first stanza.

"Its been both good and bad for Akwa United in the first round of the league and the referees have not been good to us especially in away games."

"However, I am optimistic that the second round will be different and the team can still push for a premier league spot at the end of it all."

He told nigeriasports.com that the club has already recruited new players to help in their promotion cause and by the time matches resume next week, they will have a better team.

"The league is still open and we have a lot of matches to play in the second stanza and i know we will make it, because we have a crop of energetic and enterprising boys who can do it for us."

Happy for Government support

The Vice Chairman told nigeriasports.com that the Akwa Ibom State Government has been in total support of the club and have not stopped motivating the players and officials.

"Its been very beautiful and wonderful to see Governor Attah give us all the support we need for the season. He has really supported the team and we can only be grateful to him."

Impressed with new Chief Coach

Etukudom also praised the club's new Chief Coach, Emmanuel for a good job since taking over the affairs of the side from Henry Nwosu.

He told nigeriasports.com that though he had nothing against Henry Nwosu who resigned after a sex scandal, he was very impressed with Emmanuel.

"He has really done a good job since he took over. At this rate we moght just push for a premier league spot or even the National FA Cup."
