Athletico stuns Enyimba

Defending champions Enyimba were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Petro Athletico of Angola.

Petro stunned their host in the 27th minute as Flavio ferocious strike gave the Angolans a first half lead.

Chances were premium after the goal with the Angolans keeping the Enyimba attack at bay.

Enyimba began the second half more determined and their pressure paid off courtesy a goal mouth melee in the 67th minute.

Emeka Nwani capitalised on a poor clearance off an Enyimba corner to level score.

The defending champions fluffed great scoring opportunities in the second half largely from Nwani and Anumunu.

“We played against a side that came to defend. We have a great chance of wining in the second leg” Coach Okechukwu Emodi of Enyimba told Nigeriasports.com

“We were practically unlucky” he added.

Meanwhile, Petro felt they’ve done enough. “We achieved our set goal. Enyimba will go down in the second leg” the Petro coach boasted.
