Transfer licence scam rocks HFN
The leadership of the Handball Federation of Nigeria[HFN] in Abuja is currently enmeshed in a case of transfer licence racketeering that has resulted in the banning of a Qatar-based professional handballer for a period of five years,reports nigeriasports.com.
Aminu Ibrahim who play professional handbasll in Qatar was recently banned for five years by the hanball authorities in Nigeria and his Qatari club subsequently notified of the development, for allegedly travelling out of the country with a fake licence to play in the Qatari league. The handball federation,nigeriasports.com learnt, took the decision to punish Ibrahim because he could not explain the source of the transfer licence he took to Qatar to pursue his professional career. But Ibrahim who had since returned to Nigeria to defend himself has been telling those who care to listen that he got his licence from the same source that had facilitated the professional career of not than four players before him,adding that the handball federation was in the know about the licence he took to Qatar. ......Atusu fingered as licence provider Meanwhile sources privileged to informationat the handball secretariat confided in nigeriasports.com that the latest revelation did not come as a surprise to them as certain individuals at the HFN had perfected the act of issuing transfer licences to local players for an unspecified fee to pursue professional career abroad.
