Kaduna to spend N100 million on sports development

The Kaduna State government has blamed the mass exodus of athletes from the state as the major problem facing the state in its current effort to revitalise sports.

The State commissioner for youth and sports Mr Yakubu Bitiyoung told Nigeriasports.com that athletes are leaving the state due to lack of sporting programmes to keep them busy, blaming funds as another set back.

However, the state he said is putting in place adequate measures to bring them back, and to this end the government has approved and released the sum of N100 million for the renovation of six( 6) stadium and other youth sport centres  in the state.

Bitiyoung also disclosed that the state is trying to de-emphasize football to encourage participation in other sports, so that those who cannot find their cause in football can actively participate in other sports.
