Delta boasts of winning Abuja 2004

DELTA state still trailing neighbours Edo state still believes the festival final victory will go their way despite the early lead by the latter. State Commissioner of Sports Chief Solomon Ogba, told Nigeriansports.com that people should not look at early lead.

“I can tell categorically that the competition has just started. You will see from tomorrow after all final results of today’s events have being computed that Delta State has the full force to win this festival.

“The good thing here is that Abuja is a neutral ground giving all participating teams a level playing field to compete. Unlike the previous edition where you would have see incredible results by this time, it is not happening here.

“The host in this festival, the Federal Capital Territory know they would not win, and so they are not doing anything to cheat and win at all cost.

“Now that is the beauty of competition where everybody knows that to win means to compete in a very conducive atmosphere. I think what is happening in Abuja will also set the grounds for future events where host states must allow for free flow competition,” Ogba told Nigeriasports.com

The state is hopeful that it would rake in the most of it’s gold medals from Shooting, Swimming and athletics where it has always excelled.
