Edo shows class at the Gym![]() Rachel Adesutu, 14, a junior high school pupil of Ohis Private School in Benin City also came out as one of most promising kids in the sport as she made a total of 4 gold, one silver and one bronze medal. Nigeriasports.com spoke to Adesutu :“I do what the coaches ask me to do and I thank God that I won here. I’m also thanking my parents for giving me the opportunity to train and compete.” Oni Erhunmwunse, chief coach of the state gymnastics team said it was a culmination of hard work, dedication by both sports council staff and adequate financial support from the state government. “We have worked hard for this festival, but also the staff of the Edo sports council must be thanked for their moral support to all our programmes. “But more than that, we cannot take anything from the state governor Chief Lucky Igbinedion, for giving us financial backing during our preparation for the festival. I believe it was the synergy all these factors that have worked for this result,” Erhunmwunse told nigeriasports.com The state’s gymnastics team captain Philip Enalehe, who won five gold and two silver medals believes too that the quality of mat at the Abuja National Stadium enhanced their performance. “We have seen nor trained on the type of facilities here and it was just a pleasure to compete and win. I believe that if the government can make these facilities available to us and camp us at this same place for (even) the Olympics we would do the country proud,” Enalehe told Nigeriasports.com By Joe Miebi in Abuja 0
