Swimming Champion blames poor preparations
The national 800m freestyle swimming record holder, Regina Figbele, says lack of quality preparation is responsible for the dearth of good swimmers in the country.
She said it was no surprise many swimming records are still standing many years after they were set. Regina explained why her record set twenty one years ago at the Benin ’81 sports festival is yet to be broken. “Not enough training for the swimmers. Before this record was set, I was sent to the US for a training tour, and the sports festival was my first event as soon as I got back. I also have the 400m festival record too which is still standing up till now. She back lashed sports administrator for not preparing their swimmers enough for big events. 0
