Kwara Sports boss pleads for maintenance culture

The Chairman of the Kwara state sports council Prince Afolabi Yemi has enjoined athletes in the ongoing 14th national sports festival tagged Abuja 2004 to avoid the temptation of destroying the facilities.

Extolling the federal government’s efforts in putting up the magnificent facilities on display, he advised athletes to use the opportunity to improve themselves.

He implored them to appreciate the facilities and use them as their own.

“This is something that will always be there for the athletes as well as generations to come so if properly utilized it will help sports development in the country.”

The Chairman however frowned at the feeding arrangement currently taking place at the games village pointing out that athletes are supposed to be well fed to get motivated.

“The idea of central feeding is extremely good but I hope they improve by the day,” he said.

Prince Afolabi who was confident on his team winning medals said they are not here to win the festival but are looking forward to a good position.

“We are not participating to win in all the events, and you know it is impossible to talk about winning all the events if you are not participating in all of them”
