Complacency cost Edo handball side-Coach

That Edo male handball side crumbled in the preliminaries can be traced to complacency on the part of the players, Coach Charlie Tommy told Nigeriasports.com in Abuja.

According to Tommy, the players underrated their opponents which cost them dearly.

“I think it’s the problem of the players because they underrated their opponents. Every team here wants to win and that was my team’s undoing” he explained.

The disappointed coach stressed that losing to Delta further dented their pride and should never have been.

“We had better chances than the Delta boys but over confidence killed us. Delta is not better than my team. They’ve never beaten in the history of handball but look at what happened today, they defeated us with five goals” he said on the eve of their 20-25 loss to Delta.

Meanwhile, Coach Tommy also blamed the fact that the handball games took place at the indoor hall having practice on the outdoors.

“We had all our practices on the hard-court and outdoors only to play our games indoor. I think this had a terrible influence on the team” he concluded.
