Bauchi begins campaign for 2008 festival

Bauchi State sports commissioner, Alhaji Sanni Toro told Nigeriasports.com is confident that after Ondo 2006 the hosting right of the biannual event will come to Bauchi state a successful hosting of the ‘Nigeria Olympic’

According to Toro, Bauchi stands a better chance than other northern states in bringing all states of the federation together under a serene and captivating atmosphere come 2008.

“When it is the time for the north to host in 2008, Bauchi will make a better host than any other state in the northern hemisphere” he told Nigeriasports.com

Toro stressed that the Bauchi state government has given their bid a strong backing.

“I’m not talking because I want to talk, I’m talking because the state government has given us the nod to go ahead and campaign for the hosting right,”

“We would have loved to bid for the 2006 edition but Ondo State has gotten the go ahead I think. We will take our time to make sure we put everything in place before the 2008 edition” he said.

The sports commissioner hinted that Bauchi’s bid has gotten a strong backing from other northern states.

“We are like a big family in the north. When a state bidding for the hosting right all we do is to give them all the support they need to win it. Right now we have gotten all the supports we need from other northern states so we will host give a befitting hosting should the ministry consider our bid” he concluded.
