Eight Kastina female handballers have been disqualified from taking part in the on gong 14th edition of the national sports festival. The players were alleged to have participated in the International Continental games for four times and still appeared to the play in the sports festival.
The festival stipulates that athletes that have participated in International event three times, are automatically disqualified from participating in the sports festival.Reacting to the allegation, one of the alleged players Jennifer Okon denied ever appeared in any continental competition.
She further told nigeriasports.com that the officials of the event maybe mistaking her for some one else, adding that she has never in her life showcase her self in any international engagements.
She lamented that eight out of 16 players were alleged of been part of the national competition and were disqualified from honouring their games which beginnings at the sports complex last night.
“I believe the officials of the event just don’t want us to have a successful outing because they know the calibre of players we have in our team.“We remain the best northern team in Nigeria and those players they screened out are our best ever players, but right now I can’t talk the chances of our team since most of us are not going to participate,” she said.
She stressed that “the technical crew of the event earlier promised to return to them to the team. We have been here since morning waiting for the final decision because Niger state coach came into the matter and cleared us, and they asked us to come this morning , but on getting here everything still same,” she added.
Meanwhile coach of the team has failed to defend every allegation against his players which has made things difficult for the players them selves to find there way back into the team.
