Internet facilities ready Tuesday
Journalists covering the 14th edition of the National Sports Festival in Nigeria would have to wait until Tuesday before they can be able to make use of internet facilities at the media centre of the magnificent mainbowl of the National Stadium in Abuja,the Local Organising Committee[LOC] for the festival told nigeriasports.com Sportswriters from media organisations across the country who had since Sunday, May 2, converged in the nation's capital for Nigeria's version of then Olympics have had a hectic time processing and sending their reports to their respective media outfits.
Alhaji Ibrahim Biu,Chairman Media Sub-Committee of the LOC confided in nigeriasports.com that contractors handling the installation of the internet facilities has assured the LOC that the facilities will be ready by Tuesday.
"Only yesterday[Friday] we paid the contractors,we mobilised them to go ahead with the job and they have promised us that it wil be ready on Tuesday.
"Honestly we feel deeply concerned about the plight of journalists.That is why we're doing everything to make sure that they enjoy their stay in Abuja before they leave for their respective base.Already we have made arrangement for the provision of media kits which we shall soon distribute."
However as at Saturday evening the media centre which only got electricity supply,had yet to be functional.The computers were yet to be activated while journalists converted the place to eating joint,at least temporarily.
