CATS return to league

The British Council sponsored, Community Action Through Sports, CATS team, would indeed return to the female league after initially pulling out.

The club had written to the NFA Female Football Department withdrawing their registration following the decision of her sponsors, the British Council to stop the sponsorship of the team.

According to Debbie Ball, coordinator of the project, featuring in the league makes the club derail from its initial dream of building young people through sports.

Club secretary told nigeriasports.com that the real owners of the club are the grassroot foundation and they have decided to retain the place of the club in the league.

“After consulting with all stakeholders, the Vice chairman, Alhaji  Dabiri Agboola has offered to give all financial support to the club.

CATS qualified for the first division of the female league for the first time last season and had an average performance


Club’s most outstanding player, Abiodun Obende, only recently won the
Most Valuable Player award at the recently concluded Female Football
Interest Group five a side tournament in Lagos.
