Bussdor points the way in first division

Dare Gbolahan, league's top scorer
Newly promoted Bussdor United Football Club of Port Harcourt have astonished all critics after fourteen weeks of action in the Nigerian first division, leading the table ahead of club’s like Sharks, Bayelsa United, Sunshine Stars, Nitel of Lagos, Union Bank and First Bank.

General Manager of the Club, Ibiso Dakoru told nigeriasports.com that the club has merely shown that it is not how old you are in the league, but how well you prepare that determines what your performance would be like.

“Though we are a very young team playing in the professional league for the first time, we get a lot of support from the President of the Club, Oscar Igbokwe who insists that the club would not spend more than one year in any division of the league we play in.”

The General Manager revealed to nigeriasports.com that, despite what has been reported in most Nigerian dailies, Bussdor are top of the table with 27 points from 14 matches.

“Incidentally, the highest goal scorer in our division, Dare Gbolahan is also our player who has notched 6 goals so far.”

Bussdor was founded in 2001 because of the president’s interest in youth development, and they were registered with the NFA in 2002.

“Our vision is to make the club a truly professional one, and be quoted on the stock exchange but we would take things one at a time,” Dakoru enthused.

Club President, Oscar Igbokwe was until last September a member of the board of fellow first division side, Port Harcourt Sharks.
