There are strong doubts about the genuinness of the sponsorship deal between Enyimba of Aba and Globacom Nigeria Limited barely few months after the indigenous telecommunications giants reportedly doled out N100 million in support of the African Champions  League winners.

Globacom and Enyimba had early  this year announced to the footballing world a sponsorhip agreement that was expected to see the former credit the defending league champions with the above sum in a spate of one year.

That move by Enyimba had prompted a strong protest form the Nigerian Breweries Plc with whom Enyimba has a subsisting sponsorhip arrangement.

Investigations by nigeriasports.com,however , revealed that mutual business relationship between Globacom's Chairman Mike Adenuga and Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, rather than the ultimate interest of the club as an entity had necessitated signing of the said contract widely celebrated by the media.

A source at Globacom who pleaded for anonimity disclosed that the company was yet to pay a dime of the N100 million pledge, adding that the management of Enyimba are already realising their folly by acceding wholesale to the arrangement purportedly initiated by the Abia State governor who is Enyimba's chief financier.

"I can say confidently that Enyimba are yet to get a kobo out of the money they were promised. It was sheer stupidity for the club's management to cast aside a deal that was already in operation for uncertainty.

"I mean how do you leave somebody who gave out 6 pairs of boots and trainers ,including same sets of jersies to each of 30 players the sponsors agreed to kit,"the source queried.

Felix Anyansi,Enyimba's General Manager has however denied the allegation, claiming that Globacom had since redeemed their pledge, while attributing news of a contractual hoax to the handiwork of detractors.

Said him:"Whoever told you that Globacom has not paid does not mean well for the company and Enyimba. They paid us the very day we signed the contract and they paid in full.

"Even whwther we were paid or not is not anybody's problem,at least we're not  complaining"

Meanwhile the last seems not to have been heard of the contractual imbroglio between Enyimba and the Nigerian Breweries as the brewring giants are said to be pursuing with fervour their quest for Enyimba to honour their contractual obligations.
