Elliot and Ahunanya bite the dust

Jerry Elliot Orumen
The dreams of two Nigerian Pugilists to wear championship belts were shattered last weekend when they lost their respective bouts, Nigeriasports.com can authoritatively reveal.

In Belfast Northern Ireland, Germany based Nigerian Jerry Elliot Orumen lost his chance to become the international Boxing Organization (IBO) world super middle weight champion losing via unanimous decision to champion, Brian Magee of Ireland.

Elliot began very well dominating Magee and dropping the Irishman with a solid right just 40 seconds in to the fight.

The Nigerian again rocked Magee in the seventh round with two big right hand punches.

However the champion showed the stuff he is made of and why he has not lost in twenty-two fights, he fought himself out of trouble and went ahead to win on all the judges’ cards, 118-110, 116-110 and 117 -110.

With the defeat Elliot who once held the WBC inter-continental title drops to 37-4-1 (27Kos).

For Friday ‘the 13th’ Ahunnanya, he was just not himself in the title bout as he was technically knocked out by NABO (Northern America Boxing
Organisation) champion Lance Whitaker in the fifth round of their scheduled twelve rounder.

"Ahunanya"

Whitaker also added the NABA (Northern America Boxing Association) title to his kitty.

The fight was simply uneventful until Whitaker stepped up and brutally drove Ahunnanya to the canvas 42-seconds in to the fifth round and it was good night to the highly rated Nigerian who falls to 20-2-1
(15KOs).
