NPA return to winning ways

The win, the first in 5 matches for the coach Emmanuel Tetteh led side, came in the teams 2nd match at the water front after relocating from the National Stadium, Lagos when the club found itself languishing at the bottom of the league because she could only secure 2 wins out of 5 at home.

The seasiders grabbed the match winner as early as the 12th minute through Godwin Umukoro who perfectly beat the offside trap of the visitors while all attempts by the Owerri side to level up proved abortive all through the duration of the match.

The match which was watched by an above average crowd saw the Ports Authority boys parading a set of newly registered players in the likes of Gabriel Agu, Alex Nwokolo, Tony Onyekachi and Yusuf Jaiyeola while most of the old players in the team including Tar Akombo, Onaivi Shafe and Temple Moneke were relegated to the stands.

Investigations carried out by Nigeriasports.com revealed that the players have been a part of the team all along but were ineligible to play due to clearance difficulties.

Current league top scorer, Uzoma Igwe lambasted the centre Referee for disallowing his first half goal for offside saying that was just home advantage at work while Technical adviser of the team Alphonsus Dike accused the referee of biased officiating. The Doctor of Philosophy said the league would never develop with this kind of attitude from the men in black.

NPA team manager, Mike Idoko refused to comment on the match nor the new look composition of the team, saying it time to stop talking and concentrate on achieving results.

The win is NPA is third victory all season long and the team remain rooted to the bottom of the league with 9 points from a maximum 45 points although the team still has a game at hand with Julius Berger Football club at home.
