I've made Olympic standards-Chukwuemeka![]() The Azusa Pacific State University undergraduate stressed that she feel perturbed each time she reads comment by the AFN that she is struggling to make the standards. According to Chukwuemeka her Golden throw of ‘18:44’ (in the US) before the All Africa games in October 2003 is valid to take her to the summer Games in Athens. “Although I decided to make a further throw to erase the previous standard (18:22) I set during the All Africa games last October which is a valid standard that qualifies me for the Athens games” she told Nigeriasports.com “I understand AFN saying it’s a B-standard but I often wonder why there are always confusions concerning my records when it is clear for all to see. “The IOC stated that a standard set by an athlete within a year ahead of the Olympic Games is valid so why am I an exception” she querried. The ebony Chukwuemeka has been in great form for her school APU, stressed that she’s determined to be at the games and has intensified her training programme to make the standards. “I’ll be leaving school early in May, at the end of the semester precisely and I am sure of making a better throw” she noted. Chukwuemeka, the current Commonwealth Shot put champion according to pundits is a medal prospect for Nigeria in the Shot put event of the Athens Olympic Games.
