NOC in confident mood

President of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engineer Habu Gumel told Nigeriasports.com that he is confident of a good outing by the Nigerian contigents ahead of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games billed for Greece this summer.

According to Gumel, the Nation’s feat breaking the 38-year old jinx of playing second fiddle in the All Africa games will spur the athletes to greater success in Greece.

“If we all look back at the success of the Team Nigeria at the All Africa games last October then we can emulate Atlanta’96 which remains our best Olympic outing in history” he told Nigeriasports.com

Gumel stressed that the supports of corporate bodies will further enhance the chances of the athletes at the games.

“The Nigerian athletes need the support of everyone to excel and we hope corporate bodies will come out to show their supports” he said

“Athens will be a great outing because our athletes and Associations are brimming with confidence and ready to go but everyone should come out to show their support before August” Gumel added.
