Dolphins thank Mighty Jets Supporters

If not for the Mighty Jets supporters who supported Dolphin through out the encounter in Jos, there may have been loss of lives on the side of Dolphin in the crowd disturbance which truncated the encounter between Plateau United and the Port Harcourt based league leaders at the Rwang Pam Stadium.

Traditionally, supporters of both clubs do not see eye to eye and as soon as Dolphins came to town, Mighty Jets fans vowed to Support Dolphins to the end.

When the violence started, it was supporters of Mighty Jets who saved the musical instruments of their Dolphins counterparts and at the end of the game, over one thousand Jets fans escorted Dolphins out of the stadium until they were safe at their Hotel.

“Words cannot be enough to thank the Mighty Jets supporters,” Dolphins Supporters Club Chairman, Cyprian Egwurugwu told nigeriasports.com.

“Maybe the story would have been different. Maybe we would have been making a body count by now. They gave us courage when we were attacked, and infact they wanted us to sit in their section of the stadium but the Plateau United officials convinced the match commissioner, Jemila Buhari and she insisted we sit in the Plateau United section of the stadium.”

“It is always like this when you come to Jos, Dolphins Team Manager, Diepreye Fiberesima said.

“They are sworn enemies. When we come back to Jos to play against Mighty Jets, the Plateau United Supporters  who wanted to kill us today will be on our side fully. That is the drama of Jos”

True to it, Dolphins were not like the away team, as the Mighty Jets fans who greatly outnumbered the Plateau supporters booed every move by Plateau while cheering Dolphins.

One Mighty Jets supporter who gave his name as Hassan told nigeriasports.com that it was quite unfortunate what happened to the Dolphins.

“Why did they not sit with us? If they had, nobody would have touched them. Our supporters don’t usually go to the Plateau United side of the stadium, that is why we really could not come out in numbers to rescue them, but you can see how we took care of the Dolphins players and officials and they were safe.”
