Dolphin open eight point lead

Dolphins Football Club of Port Harcourt on Wednesday, kept up their pace in the Nigerian PRemier League, opening an eight point lead after a one nil win over Insurance of Benin at their Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt home ground.

The Port Harcourt side pipped Insurance of Benin by a lone goal scored through a well-taken penalty by Kelechi Osunwa in the thirty-second minute.

Dolphins now have twenty-eight points from twelve matches while Insurance, third before the match, have dropped to eighth position.

Mighty Jets of Jos climbed to second on the table with twenty points following their one-nil win over Elkanemi Warriors at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.

In Ibadan, fans of Shooting Stars were able to smile again as the Oluyole warlords snatched all three points from Gombe United through one-nil victory, their first in five matches.

League Champions, Enyimba thrashed Gabros three-nil in Aba to move to seventh position while in Lagos it was NPA one and Plateau United one.

Other results from yesterday’s matches are Pillars two, Nationale one and Kwara United one, Tornadoes nil.

So the top of the table has Dolphins, Mighty Jets, Kano Pillars and Iwuanyanwu Nationale, while NPA Seasiders, Wikki Tourists, Julius Berger and Lobi Stars bring up the rear.
