AKINWANDE RETAINS TITLE

Akinwande
Henry Akinwande has successfully defended his IBF international heavyweight title by stopping South African champion, Anton Nel. In the heavy clash tagged the "Battle of Creek" former WBO heavy weight champion, Akinwade, like the true champion that he is, came out smoking from the sound of the bell his punches causing unease for Nel and his fans. Nel received warnings from the Italian referee when he started holding whenever he received the heavy punches  that were coming very regularly, By the fifth round, Nel had become Akinwade’s punching
bag, staggering towards the ropes each time he was cornered by the champion.

Akinwade, ostensibly out to show his countrymen that he was truly a world champion, kept on pumelling his challenger, reducing him to nothing.  The referee had to stop the fight when Nel was
virtually turned into a punching bag. Akinwande is rated number twelve by the IBF for the main heavyweight title held by Chris Byrd.

In some other under cards fights, in the middleweight category, Nigeria’s Mojid Okedara could not stand the punches of his American counterpart, Darryl Salmon, just as another Nigerian, Sunday Ajayi, also lost to Gotlieb Shileka of Namibia in an international junior middleweight contest.

The ‘battle in the creek’ was promoted by JC COURREGES PROFESSIONAL PROMOTIONS in Association with the Cross River state Tourism and Virtual X-Change to promote Tourism in the state.
