Enyimba in good start
African champions Enyimba spanked Senegalese side, ASC Diaraf 3-0 in the first round of the Caf champions league in Aba.
Underdogs Diaraf looked to have resisted all the offensive play of the Nigerian side in the first half, as they curtailed the hosts’ attacks. After ruing so many scoring opportunities, Bob Osim put the home side ahead in the 33rd minute from the spot, Ndidi Anumunu was brought down and Osim converted the resultant penalty. Three minutes later Anumunu added the second in the 36th minute. The champions added the third in the 42nd minute as Yusuf Muhammed released David Tyvakase who brilliantly lobbed the ball above the Diaraf goal keeper, kjer. The second half saw Enyimba fluffed scoring chances as it ended in a scoreless half. The overwhelmingly Enyimba fans at the Enyimba international stadium in Aba, did its utmost to unsettle the Senegalese defence, jeering their every touch of the ball and urging their side forward but to no avail. Miroslav Urukalo, Coach of Enyimba is optimistic they've done enough. "We had a tough game but we can't lose in Senegal by same scoreline" he explained to Nigeriasports.com Meanwhile, Enyimba sole administrator, Felix Anyansi stressed that the players are spurred to retain the trophy they won last year.
