It would be another Nzogbu Nzogbu Enyimba Enyi, as the Elephant Fc of Aba begins their title defence at home against Diaraf de’ Dakar Fc of Sengal at Aba Township stadium on Easter Sunday.
Although the team is still awaiting CAF ‘s decision on the Isimali FC of Egypt allegation against them that they used two illegitible players during their charity cup match played last December. Again having employed a white foreign coach Micheal Urukalo to handle the team this season may prove to be another headache for the club, as they seem to be struggling to find their form this season in the Globacom Premier League.
Their performance so far in the Premiership is another way of judging the team’s ability of taking us
to another greater height this season. As it is, they will need to put more effort to make sure that the cup is not taken away from them. Some soccer fans who spoke with nigeriasports.com yesterday in Lagos lamented seriously over the team’s poor performance so far in the Premier League.
One of the Coaches in the National Institute for sports (NIS) Samson Iwuoha stressed that Enyimba FC
have not been able to convince their soccer fans that they are in the mood to defend their title.
He stated that apart from the team’s poor performance in the premier league, the management of the club has not even disclosed their interest to make sure the team retain the Championship.
“I’m totally disappointed so far with the performance of the team this season. I’m not blaming the coach
because they invited him, because they believed we the Nigeria coaches are not capable of handling a team. We all know who made the team what it is today. Bringing a foreign coach may not create any difference, rather it gives them what they are seeing today.” Enyimba is great club that all Nigerians hopes on but what is happening to them now is too much and with this performance l see them crashing out in the first round of the Champions League,” he said.
He advised that Enyimba should wake up and understand that what is ahead of them is very crucial, adding, they have an image to protect.
