Lobi Stars FC of Markudi left for Uganda this afternoon to battle Express FC of Uganda this weekend in the first round of the Africa Winners Cup Championship. The players who were in a high spirits vowed to make the country proud, and promised to return to home with at least a point at the end of the match.
In a chat with nigeriasports.com before their departure, one of the team’s key player Kelechi Okoye
promised Nigerians that they are going to redeem what Julius Berger of Lagos failed to do.
According to him, the players are all in a high spirit to make sure they registered their names in the good book of Nigerian football. “The players are charged for the game, every players wants to make name and by the time we come back with a point Nigerians will start having regards for us and the team as well,” Okoye said.
The former Iwuanyanwu FC player disclosed that with the caliber of players that make up the team list that they are going to come out in a flying colours.“Most of the players Lobi signed for this competition
are experienced players. Many of them have played in Champions league before, while most of us just came back from trials aboard. Having us together as a team I believe we will play well and go far in the championship,” he said.
In the same view former Enyimba FC hit man Emma Isah confirmed that his presence in Lobi FC would yield good result in the CAF competition. “I joined Lobi for good and I believe my presence in
the team will bring good result at the end,” Isah said.
The players in the team includes; national U-23 Goalkeeper John Gaadi, Sanni Haliru, defender Odeh Ogah Captain, Benedict Afrle, John Agbann, Ismaila Suleiman, Ekene Inuaria, Isiah Kpechiga and Zango
Umaru.
Midfielder Chuks Ndigwe, Isiaka Olawale, Johnson Oluweze, and Kelechi Okoye while the attackers are
Gbenga Agala, Emma Isah, Mike Eneramo, Lady Garper,Yayaya Garba, and Daniel Nkeonye.
