Blanksons heroics fails Wikki tourists at Dolphins

Blankson, a delight of neutral football fans whenever he stands between the sticks was up to the forays from Dolphins’ of Port Harcourt attackers diving, parrying and clutching every thing that came his way, and even adding drama to it, causing the few spectators present to cheer at his every move.

He started as early as the 5th minute when he deprived Kelechi Osunwa the opening goal of the game, stopping a point blank shot and playing dead as soon as he was sure the ball had gone clear for a corner.

Ten minutes later, Blankson was called to duty again when he stretched full length to tip over, a pull out from Ochuko Ojobo from the right.

His antics however were successful for just 19 minutes as Ezeji latched on a pullout out from Ojobo, controlled well in the box, watched Blankson commit himself before slotting beyond his reach for the first goal of the game.

Two minutes after that, Ezeji was through again on goal, and had beaten the onrushing but the ball had fallen to a tight angle, and Blankson recovered in time to stop Victor’s chip to the delight of the crowd who appreciated the every act of the Wikki Keeper.

In the 24th minute again, with Ezeji freeing Efosa Eguakun in the box, the Keeper was called to duty when he stopped Efosa’s shot in its tracks, then fell flat on the ground as if he had been killed by the shot, only to get up a minute later waving to the crowd.

In the second half, it was simply a game of Harry Blankson against the Dolphins strike force of Victor Ezeji, Kelechi Osunwa, Uwazuoke Wobo and Ochuko Ojobo, but increasing the tally was always going to be difficult with the Wikki Tourist Goalkeeper having the game of his life

After the game, Blankson told nigeriasports.com that he was not disappointed he conceded two goals in the game, since in football you cannot win all the time.

“Well, I know I did my best, but that the way it goes sometimes. I can only hope to do better and keep a clean slate next time.”
About his clowning when he is on goal, he describes it as a part of him, saying he has always been like that.
