Jet fans threaten Wikki supporters![]() Sadly, that is exactly what is likely to happen one more time unless something is done soon enough by the authorities concerned as aggrieved fans of Mighty Jet of Jos who were attacked during the week in Bauchi have sworn to take their pound of flesh in the reverse fixture of the tie in the ongoing Nigerian premier league. It would be recalled that all hell broke loose last Wednesday in Bauchi up North Nigeria when irate fans of Wikki Tourist of Bauchi descended on supporters of visiting Mighty Jet of Jos moments after the week eight Globacom 2004 league encounter came to an end at the Tafawa Balewa stadium Bauchi. The fans obviously disappointed at seeing their darling side go down for the second time at home this season, swooped on the wing of the Stadium where the Mighty Jet supporters had assembled and in the ensuing melee, two fans of the Jos team were reported to have lost their lives while several others were left injured. The fight soon spread to the town where cars carrying Jos number plates suspected to belong to the visitors and their supporters were vandalized while the team’s bus was not spared either as its windscreen was shattered by the disgruntled Wikki fans. The fight which led to the forced closure of the Wunti market would not have degenerated to that magnitude but for the absence of enough security men in and around the stadium each time a league match was taking place at the stadium as a similar incidence had reared its ugly head during the week four encounter against visiting shooting stars but was immediately quelled by the handful of policemen on parade shortly after the Oluyole boys had won 3-2. The Bauchi team has struggled all through this season and has only managed two victories at home this season leaving the fans to blame this on the usual absence of Chief Coach Charles Bassey and goal keeper John Gaadi both who at some points were on national U-23 team assignment and the sudden departure of Ibrahim Ndala and Victor Babayaro for trials in Israel.
