Female league kicks off April 17th![]()
“You know we could not have started the league in the middle of the qualifiers because most of the girls in the Falcons would have been part of the league too and their clubs would have needed them. But now that the qualifiers are over, we would start.” “Many clubs have registered and some are in the process of registering, while the fixtures are ready to start from the sixteenth of April.” Two year contracts stands for women The NFA board member cleared the air on the two year contract imbroglio which has been the talk of female football club owners in the last couple of months. The NFA says players who signed for clubs last season went into a two year deal, while the players insist it was one year contracts they signed, a situation Ayo Omidiran throws more light on. “Every player that signed last year, signed for two years so if a player is saying that she did not sign for two years, the records are there with the NFA and they are free to bring out the contract forms and they will see with their own eyes what they have signed.” Only eight clubs have so far registered for the first division of the league out of sixteen, with Lafia of Nasarawa based Solid babes as the first side to complete registration formalities. League Champions, Delta Queens of Asaba, last week sent in a list of 29 registered players for the league and Pelican Stars of Calabar too have registered 25 for the league. 0
