Nigeria,South Africa clash postponed

The clash between Nigeria and South Africa for the Africa's sole place at the Olympic women's football tournament in Athens has been postponed after the South African team complained of food poisoning.

The game will now take place at the same venue-The Abuja national stadium on Sunday by 2pm local time.

According to Taiwo Ogunjobi, secretary general of the Nigerian FA, the game will still take place and the fans will try and understand the shift in date.

Nigeriasports.com sport reliably gathered that nine members of the Bayana Bayana of South Africa including the two goal keepers were seriously affected and the game had to be postponed.

Unperturbed by the sad turn of event coach Ismaila Mabo insists there is no cause for panic.

“I think it’s a blessing in disguise and not a bad luck for my team” he told Nigeriasports few minutes after the game was called off.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria had filed out for pre match warm up only to be informed of the postponement.

Banyana Banyana's coach, Greg Mashilo, told NigeriaSport.com that his girls would bounce back to still achieve their goal.

He said: "With nine of my players down, I think we had no chance but we will achieve our goal on Sunday”
