Opabunmi bounces back

Grasshoppers of Switzerland attacker, Femi Opabunmi has bounced back forcefully from his ankle injury Nigeriasports.com can exclusively report.

The player informed Nigeriasports.com that he copped up the injury back in January whilst on a training tour of Spain with his Swiss club but says he feels great to be back.

“It’s been tough for me and I can only thank God for his favours” he says.

“I started jogging few days back and am almost through with my gym schedule which is the final exercise to getting into the first team”

The former Shooting Stars of Ibadan player recalled how he copped the injury.

“I got injured during the U-23 team 2-3 away loss to Senegal in Dakar but didn’t feel so much pain until I travelled with my team a week later to Spain” he explained.

“It was a tough moment for me in Spain and Grasshoppers medical team were proposing an operation but am glad to be fully back without going under the knives”

International comeback
The youngest member of the Nigerian squad to the last world cup in Japan, Opabunmi fancies a return to the team.

“I got a call from Coach Christian Chukwu assuring me that I have not been forgotten or neglected and that gives me hope”

A key player of the U-23 team, the midfielder is hopeful of being in Athens with his team mates.

 “My first target is to see Nigeria pick up the sole group ticket to Athens and I am determined to contribute to that as usual”.
