Jets fight double battle

Despite the enthusiasm of club chairman, Yaya Gwande on the club’s survival chances in the four week old league, the ominous signs are clear that Mighty Jets might just bid farewell to the Premier League at the end of the 2004 football season.

In 2003, the club reported spent a paltry N3.5 million and gained promotion to the top flight, and received just N500, 000 from the Plateau State Government as take off grant.

Club Chairman, Yaya Gwande told nigeriasports.com that there was never any plan to sell the Club’s Premier League franchise  to either Sharks or Yobe desert Stars.

“Like you said, it was all a rumour. There has never been any time when we decided or even thought of selling the club. Besides neither Sharks or Yobe or any representative from either of the two sides even approached us with a plan to buy over the club, then maybe, we could have even considered it, but it did not happen and I doubt if it will happen”

Yaya Gwande said the club or management are not thinking of winning the league or even a top place finish because that will be mere wishful thinking, rather they would want to at least stay up to be able to convince the government to be more financially committed to the club next season.

At least seven of their players and Chief Coach left to join Yobe desert stars and they now have Ben Duamlong as coach.
