Gbenga Ajala might be clubs new ace

The fortunes of Lobi stars football Club of MAkurdi in the 2004 Globacom Premier League may just rest on the feet of 18 year old Gbenga Ajala.

Gbenga Ajala who was signed on from Ranchers Bees of Kaduna at the close of the 2003 football season is already catching a lot of attention from Premier League watchers.

Ajala is a product of Model International School, Kaduna.

Meanwhile, Team Manager of the side, Simon Ikya is confident the club will win something this season.

He told nigeriasports.com that winning is the the wish of every club so Lobi’s case would not be different.

“I am not saying we are going to win something out of mere wishful thinking, but because of the crack squad we have assembled. You can see we retained most of our players from last season and we also have one of the best coaches in the land in Maurice Cooreman.” Simon Ikya enthused.

Livewire of the side in last season’s FA Cup final win over Sharks, Onyekachi Okoye is also back in Makurdi after making moves to travel out of the country for trials.

Lobi already have a god start after three games, winning once at home and drawing twice away, a near impeccable record by Nigeria standards.

Lobi will also be one of the money bags of the Nigerian league this season after splashing millions on players transfer during the off season.

They have also paid out sixty percent of sign on fees to players, with at least ten of their players getting more than a million naira each.
