Money may be Wikki’s bane
Cash troubles may just be the bane of Bauchi Club Wikki Tourists of Bauchi in the 2004 Globacom Premier league.
Wikki Tourists who end season after season as also rans never have title ambitions and are just content with remaining in the Premier league. With a paltry take off budget of N6.3 million released by the |Bauchi state Governor, Adamu Muazu, it remains to be seen how the club can match the opposition to be posed by millionaire clubs like Enyimba, Dolphins and Insurance of Benin. Biggest name signing is no doubt U-23 team attacker, Abubarkar Baleria, who is one that Coach Charles Bassey is building his hopes on. Corner stones of the team, Hamdala Ibrahim and Victor Babayaro have already ditched Wikki for foreign pastures citing poor welfare. Babayaro claims his N5, 000.00 monthly salary is simply not good enough and would not come back to Bauchi even if his foreign deal falls through. Hamdala Ibrahim is already at MAccabi Tel Aviv trying to impress the Israeli side to get signed. The clubs’ hope might just rest on Chiedozie Johnson who is also captain of the side. Danladi Ibrahim, an ex international and member of the 1984 silver medal Nations Cup winning Eagles has been appointed assistant to Charles Bassey. 0
