NWBBA list 16 for camping
After a rigorous screening exercise for U23 Men Wheelchair basketballers which ended last weekend in Lagos the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Association, NWBBA has penciled down sixteen names for camping ahead the Africa qualifiers schedule for Johannesburg, South Africa later in the year.
According to the 2nd Vice-President of the association and coordinator of the six-day screening exercise, O’Brien Adoki the sixteen players were picked out of the fifty that reported for the exercise sponsored by First Deepwater Discovery Limited. Adoki gave the name of the 16 lucky players from where a final list of twelve players will emerged as Ajibade Kayode, Okungbowa Alinco, Ozurumba Victor, Murtala Mohammed, Adetayo Kehinde, Amodu Stephen, Richard Patrick, Ogunbona Hammed, Lawal Olatunji and Ajani Idowu. Others include, Olanipekun Gbenga, Peter Osa-Kelvin, Kazeem Akanbi, Chibuzor Nwawere and Emmanuel Idimogwu. The NWBBA official says the players are in high spirit to do the nation proud when hostility began in South Africa later in the year. He however, appealed to well meaning individuals and corporate organizations to emulate the gesture of First Deepwater Discovery in sponsoring the team to South Africa for the qualifiers. Winner of the Africa championship will represent Africa at the World U23 Wheelchair Basketball Championship billed for France next year. 0
