Turai ar 'Adua named CAM Peace Ambassador
As part of the building bridge process leading to the first City of Abuja Marathon (CAM), the Main Organising Committee (MOC) has appointed the Nigeria First Lady Hajia Turai Yar’Adua as the event’s Peace Ambassador.
CAM themed “running for unity and glory” will seek to bring together some of the world’s best athletics to vie for honours in the capital city of Abuja. Already, the MOC are in torching base with some of these top flight athletes who have signified interest in participating in the race. CAM is also calling on Nigeria’s long distance runners to register enmasse in the race, as there will be a prize category to reward outstanding local athletes. The prize money is ONE MILLION NAIRA. However, for the international participants, $100, 000 is up for grabs. Cam, which is proudly supported by the Federal Government, will hold in September this year. In the same vein, the Chairman/CEO of DAAR Communications PLC, High Chief (Dr.) Raymond A. Dokpesi (OFR), is to be decorated as “PEACE AMBASSADOR” to the City of Abuja Marathon. The decoration will be done by the Chairperson of CAM, Prof. Veronica Igbanugo, in the company of CAM Secretary, Dr. G. Ogu, Prof. Seun Omotayo (CAM Project Manager), Chief Falilat Ogunkoya (MON), initiator of CAM and other members of the organizing committee. The decoration ceremony is expected to take place at the Gbaduma Hills – Operational Headquarters of DAAR Communications next Thursday, with Senator Heineken Lokpobiri as chairman of the ocassion.
