FA cup war in Akure, Kano

Football fans in Akure and Kano are in for a very exciting weekend as the final matches of the FA cup group stage comes to an end with a place for the quater finals up for grabs.

In Akure, Bayelsa united seeks to top the group by playing at worst a draw with premier league champions Kano pillars but Pillars must win the match to avoid crashing out of the competition.

In the same group, is Warri Wolves which stands to benefit from Kano Pillars misfortune provided she wins her game against hopeless El - Cruzero.

''We just need a draw to top the group and remain here in Akure ahead of the quater-finals", echoed Akpan Bassey, the Bayelsa united goal keeper.

Bayelsa united presently sits on top of the table with 6 points from two matches while Kano pillars and Warri Wolves are second and third with 4 and 1 points respectively.

In Kano, the story is no different as Enyimba, Gombe united and Elkanemi warriors struggle for the two available tickets.

Enyimba battle Elkanemi in a game where a draw might not guarantee any of the two a place in the quater finals. Gombe United must however beat already doomed Dolphins FC by 2 to three goals to be sure of a place in the next round.

Enyimba tops the group with 4 points from two games, same as Elkanemi while Gombe has 2 points from same number of matches.
