Expulsion-The inside story

Aiyegbeni expelled
It is no longer news that three Super Eagles players, Celestine Babayaro, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, and Victor Agali were kicked out of the Nigerian nation’s cup squad by the Nigeria football association for breaking camp rules, but www.nigeriasports.com here in Monastir-Tunisia has the facts behind their expulsion.

The three players preferred to go to the ‘discotheque’ at a time they were all suppose to be in bed.

The players then returned in the middle of the night in the company of three ladies to the dismay of the hotel authorities and the team’s chief coach was quickly alerted.

The teams coach in turn informed the team’s chief security officer CSP Gideon Akinsola who promptly got in touch with the FA chairman, Ibrahim Galadima.

The End game

A search party which also included the FA secretary general, Taiwo Ogunjobi swung into action and eventually caught the players in their respective rooms with female company.

The trio alongside the other players in their remorseful mood made frantic efforts to appeal for pardon or a lesser punishment knowing they had goofed in indulging in such a disgraceful act.

Ministerial intervention

The fact that the decision to decamp the three players had already been sanctioned by the Nigeria Sports Minister, Musa Muhammed automatically made the expulsion irreversible.

The Departure

The three players had to wait till late in the night before leaving the team’s hotel pretty much after it dawned on them that there was no going back, moreover it had already been sanctioned by CAF and awash in the media.

I am so happy that sanity is gradually coming into the team, i just hope the football authority will keep it up.
