Eagles arrive Wednesday, camp in NICON

Following Tuesday night’s international friendly against Austria in Graz , Nigeria senior national team, The Super Eagles will fly into the nation capital, Abuja on today (Wednesday) evening ahead of Sunday’s 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying showdown with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa . Head Coach Shuaibu Amodu will lead the contingent to the NICON Luxury Hotel in Garki Area of the Federal Capital Territory , where the squad will stay for final preparation ahead of Sunday’s game.
 
In the opener to the qualifying series for the 1994 World Cup finals in USA , the Eagles met and defeated South Africa ’s Bafana Bafana 4-0 at the National Stadium, Lagos in October 1992, and also walloped the South Africans 4-0 at the 2004 African Cup of Nations finals in Tunisia .
 
The Eagles also whipped the Bafana 2-0 in the semi finals of the 2000 African Cup of Nations, in a match played at the National Stadium, Lagos .
 
Sunday’s match is the opener to the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals that the South Africans are hosting, the first country in Africa to stage the biggest spectacle in world football.
