Tight security for Nigeria, South Africa Match

The Nigeria Football Association has made it clear that there will tight security in place for Sunday’s 2010 World Cup qualifier between the Super Eagles and South Africa , taking place in Abuja . “We are putting in place measures to ensure effective traffic control and safety of lives and property. This is a big match”, said NFA Deputy Secretary General, Barrister Musa Amadu.
 
As part of the measures, there will be over 600 security personnel deployed for the games, including officers and men of the Nigeria Police, Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps and military Police. There will also be horsemen and dog-men.
 
Only the holders of the VIP tickets will be allowed to enter the Stadium through the VIP Gate (Gate A), while other ticket –holding spectators have to pass through the Main Spectator Entrance that leads to Area One and Games Village .
 
Officials, Media Representatives and the players will pass through the Gate B, while the Presidential Gate will only admit Presidency officials and Cabinet Ministers. Only those who purchased the Hospitality Suites tickets will be allowed to enter the Stadium through Gate C.
 
There will be 55,000 tickets on sale throughout the country. Hawkers will only be allowed at the Main Spectator Entrance. Spectators will park their cars at the Car Park by the Main Spectator Entrance, and checks will be conducted on spectators on the bridge leading to Gate C, and at the City Gate for VIP ticket holders.
 
There will be a lecture/orientation talk for security personnel at the Stadium on Saturday, where the security personnel will be told to watch the spectators and not the football match.
