South West Prepares for Zonal Elimination

The Southwest Zonal Elimination in preparation for the 16th National Sports Festival is kicking off on Monday May 29 at the Sports Complex of Rufus Giwa polytechnic, Owo, Ondo state.

The elimination is starting with the arrival of contingents from the 6 states of the South west zone which includes Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, Ogun Osun and Lagos States.

Sports to be competed for in the five-day elimination series are Basketball, Softball, Handball, Volleyball, Football and Abula also on the bill is a match.

Some of the special guest of honour that are expectd to grace the occasion includes, the Group Managing Director of Odu’a Investment Company Limited, Adebayo Jimoh, the Executive Governor of Ondo state, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, royal fathers, Directors of Sports, Sports Philanthropist among other top dignitaries.

Zonal Coordinator of the National Sports Commission, Peter Nelson says medals, trophies and certificates will be given to deserving states at the end of the elimination exercise.
