NFA Endorses Fashanu's Football Challenge

The Nigeria Football Association, NFA has now given its support to the FASH Football Challenge project launched by former England international John Fashanu.

The ex English Premiership pushful forward stormed the NFA Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday to give detailed outline and defend his programme, after which the NFA decided to support the endeavour which seeks to add entertainment, enlightenment and education to its key football component.

As we said earlier in our media release, the NFA will always be there to give support to any programme or activity that enhances the cause of football in the country.

Fashanu's project is laudable and a worthy cause, and we hereby fully endorse the programme; Fash Football Challenge, with our support, said FA Secretary General, Bolaji Ojo-Oba.

Fashanu has done a similar programme in Europe previously with tremendous success. We have faith in his ability to achieve similar success with this one.

This programme is a phenomenon and we are happy that Fashanu, a UNICEF Ambassador and a professional footballer for more than 20 years, has been able to secure the support and endorsement of several other major stakeholders in the game for his project.

However, the NFA will fully monitor the programme to ensure that everything is within acceptable limits.

Football is the principal binding factor among Nigerians and our people are passionate about it. We have faith that no angle of the project will offend their psyche.

The NFA, Fashanu and Oceanic Bank have put together a Memorandum of Understanding that will be religiously followed in order for us to accomplish our goals through the project.

The Memorandum of Understanding that has been signed is for the 2008 edition only.
